Print Menu — Creation and Customization

What is it?

Print Menu is an admin panel feature that lets you create a beautifully formatted PDF version of your restaurant menu for printing. You can fully customize the appearance: choose languages, text styles, fonts, backgrounds, margins — and see the result instantly in an A4 preview.

Features

  • 🌍 Multilingual — select one or more languages from 27 available
  • 🎨 Style customization — separate settings for headers and dish names
  • 🖼 Backgrounds — presets, custom upload, AI generation
  • 📐 Margins — configure page margins in millimeters
  • 👁 Live preview — instant A4 preview
  • 📄 PDF export — save the file with one click

How to open

  1. Go to admin.meni.ge
  2. Navigate to the Locations section
  3. Click the 🖨 Print button next to the desired location
  4. The Print Menu modal window will open

1. Language Selection

Language selection buttons are located at the top of the window. Main languages are shown by default; click "More languages" for the full list.

  • You can select multiple languages — dish and category names will be displayed with a separator
  • Use the ← → arrows below the selected languages to change their order
  • The "new line" option (separate for headers and dishes) — each translation on a separate line instead of Name / Название / სახელი

2. Menu Background

Preset Backgrounds

A horizontal carousel with ready-made backgrounds:

  • White — classic white
  • Cream — warm beige tone
  • Light Gray — neutral
  • Warm Beige — elegant
  • Parchment — gradient simulating old paper
  • Dark — deep dark blue
  • Dark Green — classic restaurant style
  • Navy — for evening venues

Custom Background Upload

Click the "Upload your background" button and select an image. The background is automatically saved to the server and loaded on next opening.

🤖 AI Background Generation

Enter a text description of the desired background and click "Generate". Artificial intelligence (DALL-E 3) will create a unique A4-format background image based on your description.

Example prompts:

  • Elegant minimalist background with a subtle floral pattern in pastel tones
  • Dark background with gold Art Deco ornaments
  • Vintage craft paper texture with a slight grainy effect
  • Marble texture in white and gray tones

💡 Describe the background in detail — AI takes into account style, colors, textures, and mood.

3. Text Style Customization

Styles are configured separately for two types of elements:

Headers (restaurant name + categories)

Parameter Description
Text color Choose color via palette
Text background color Highlight/mark the line with a background color (can be removed with ×)
Font Sans-serif, Serif, Georgia, Times, Mono, Cursive
Size −/+ buttons to adjust (8–40 px)
Bold (B) Toggle bold weight
Italic (I) Toggle italic style
Underline (U) Toggle underline
New line Each translation on a separate line (when multiple languages are selected)

Dish Names

Same settings as headers, but applied to dish names and descriptions. This lets you create a visual hierarchy — for example, large bold headers and small elegant dish names.

4. Page Margins

Configure document margins in millimeters:

Margin Default Range
Top 20 mm 0–80 mm
Right 15 mm 0–80 mm
Bottom 20 mm 0–80 mm
Left 15 mm 0–80 mm

The −/+ buttons change the value in steps of 5 mm. You can also enter an exact value manually.

5. Preview

A live A4 preview of the menu is displayed at the bottom of the window. All changes to styles, backgrounds, languages, and margins are applied instantly.

  • For large menus, the preview automatically splits into pages
  • Navigate between pages with ← / → buttons
  • Current page number and total count are displayed

6. Export

Print

The "Print" button (orange) — opens the system print dialog in a new window. You can send it to a printer or choose "Save as PDF" in the dialog.

Save PDF

The "Save PDF" button (blue) — generates a PDF file and automatically downloads it. The file is saved with the name {Location name}.pdf.

PDF features:

  • A4 format (210 × 297 mm)
  • Background fills the entire page — even if content only occupies part of the page
  • On each page the background starts fresh (doesn't continue from the previous page)
  • All styles, fonts, and colors are preserved exactly as in the preview
